4.1 Safe, Modern, & Accessible Spaces
Welcome to the Louis Riel School Division’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) 2023-27 action pages. For each strategic action, we are diligently taking steps to achieve our goals. Together, these goals strive to create the best possible educational environment for students, staff, and community. On these pages, you will find answers to two key questions: What have we done so far? And where do we plan to be by 2027?
What have we done so far?
We are constantly striving to improve our learning spaces. For some projects, we are able allocate funds from our annual budget and move swiftly to carry out the work. For other projects, we must collaborate with and receive approval from the Government of Manitoba. The category each type of project falls into is governed by provincial law. For example, our local budget might be used to painting a classroom or replace old carpeting, while the building of major additions or new schools would require the Government of Manitoba's approval and extrabudgetary funding. To keep our community apprised of all our efforts, we have created the following documents:
- The LRSD Annual School Building Review Dashboard provides a comprehensive collection of data relating the condition of and demands upon buildings within the school division.
Where do we plan to be by 2027?
The Louis Riel School Division aims to have made significant steps towards expanding educational spaces to adapt to growing enrolment in many areas of the city, to make schools more accessible for all learners and staff, and to improve the quality of indoor and outdoor spaces for the benefit of all.
- LRSD 2034 provides an infrastructure plan for growth, maintenance, and modernization of schools in the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) from 2024 to 2034. It will be reviewed annually in December.
