Retiring Class of 2024 Honoured at Gala Celebration

On May 30, the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) came together to honour the Retiring Class of 2024. LRSD staff, trustees, and esteemed guests gathered at the Provencher Ballroom in the Fort Garry Hotel to celebrate the contributions of 94 retiring staff members. Among them, 42 colleagues were present to partake in the festivities.

Superintendent Christian Michalik expressed deep gratitude, saying, “We are grateful that each one of you traveled this path, that your experiences and the opportunities you seized led you to this fulfilling career in education, and we are grateful once more that it was with us, in the LRSD community. Your years of service have been marked by your gifts, passions, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to helping learners thrive and our community flourish. Each of you has left an indelible mark on the lives of your students, colleagues, and loved ones.”

Sandy Nemeth, Chair of the Board of Trustees, shared a heartfelt anecdote about her morning at the Louis Riel Arts and Technology Centre, highlighting her hope for the future generation.

“Those of you who we honour this evening, can take some credit for that hope,” said Sandy. “Your commitment to public education and to our students has not gone unnoticed, and we are better as a school division community because of your caring ways, your good humour, and your support of students and of your peers.”

The evening was filled with joy and camaraderie. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner, took home photo mementos from 3Clicks Photo Booth, and received beautiful rose bouquets courtesy of McDiarmid Flowers. A PowerPoint presentation highlighted the retirees’ years of service and personal stories, providing a deeper glimpse into their impactful careers. You can view the PowerPoint here
