Annual Report to the Community 2020-2021

Throughout the 2020-2021 school year, the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) community was faced with uncertainty and disruption. From physical distancing to mask wearing to pivoting to learning from home, staff, students, and families worked together to quickly adjust to a new “normal.” This was only made possible through an incredible amount of kindness, resilience, and innovation.

Despite the uncertainty, we remained committed to our journey toward achieving the goals outlined in our Multi-Year Strategic Plan. That commitment is outlined in this year’s Annual Report to the Community (ARC) through features about youth standing up against racismimproving accessibility through innovative ideas and using data as a flashlight.

You’ll notice references to Bill 64: The Education Modernization Act throughout the ARC. Although the bill has since been defeated, its presence loomed over LRSD and school divisions across the province throughout the first half of 2021 and was a large part of our reality at the time. Our community’s optimism and dedication to our Vision and Mission helped us continue to thrive under challenging circumstances and remain dedicated to doing the important work necessary for positive change.

Living through such unprecedented times gave us the opportunity to pause and discover new ways of looking at ourselves and the world, and how we can change for the better. The lessons learned throughout the 2020-2021 school year will help us build a legacy for years to come. Read all about it in this year’s ARC
