Celebrating National Indigenous History Month with Indigenous Art

At École Howden, our students took part in a school-wide activity to celebrate National Indigenous History Month. Students in Grade 7/8 Art Option course made a collage of important Indigenous People. Their artwork was accompanied by a short history of the person/people.

All students created art in the style of Norval Morrisseau, also known as Copper Thunderbird. He was an Indigenous Canadian artist from the Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek First Nation. He is widely regarded as the grandfather of contemporary Indigenous art in Canada.
