Celebrating Social Work Month 2025: Social Work is Everywhere

Social workers care deeply about people, which is why so many individuals enter the profession each year and dedicate their lives to the well-being of others. Social workers undergo years of education and training to help individuals, families, communities, and society reach their full potential.

This year, the theme for Social Work Month 2025, Social Work is Everywhere, highlights the vast and diverse impact of the social work profession. Social workers reach into every corner of our communities to create meaningful change and support individuals, families, and groups. From schools to hospitals, community centers to policymaking, social workers are at the heart of social progress, championing equity, justice, and human dignity.

The vital roles of social workers:

  • Mental Health Supports: Counselling for trauma, depression, anxiety, crisis intervention
  • Resource Connections: Access to housing, healthcare, food security
  • Inclusive Schools: Promoting spaces that are safe, inclusive, culturally responsive
  • Advocacy: Ensuring student rights are protected and advocating for systemic change.

This Social Work Month, let us come together to celebrate social work's many faces and facets. Let's honour the tireless dedication of social workers in Louis Riel School Division and across Canada who make a difference everywhere, every day. Their work is not just a profession but a calling to serve humanity and foster a more just and compassionate world.
