Weekly reminders for October 7-11th

Good afternoon École St. Germain families,

Please note our weekly reminders for the week of October 7-11th:

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, students at École St. Germain engaged in meaningful activities to honor and reflect on the importance of this day. In one activity, students painted their hands orange and pressed them onto a bulletin board as a symbol of their commitment to remembering the experiences of Indigenous children in residential schools. They also took part in a creative project where they colored small orange shirts, which were later displayed throughout the hallways. These visual representations, inspired by Orange Shirt Day, encouraged reflection and dialogue about the ongoing journey toward reconciliation and the significance of every child feeling valued and heard.  (see attached – scroll to see 3 pictures)

 Picture day

Monday, October 7th is picture day.  Group class pictures will be taken in the Spring.

Money raised for The Terry Fox Foundation

The École St. Germain community came together in an inspiring effort to support the Terry Fox Foundation, raising an impressive $3,056.35.  The collective efforts of students, staff and families not only raised significant funds but also instilled a sense of social responsibility and empathy in the students, making a meaningful impact for a great cause.  BRAVO ESG community!!

 Pyjama Day

To congratulate the students for their incredible efforts in surpassing our goal of $2000 for the Terry Fox Foundation, the École St. Germain community will be celebrating with a Pyjama Day on October 16th and an extra recess. These fun and relaxing activities are a way to recognize the students' hard work and dedication.

 Lost and found

We have several items in our Lost and Found that belong to students, and we want to ensure these items find their way home. Please take a moment to check the attached pictures to see if any of the belongings look familiar. If you recognize any items, feel free to drop by the school to retrieve them. Thank you for helping us return these lost items to their owners! (see attached – scroll to see 3 pictures)

 Cultery

Kindly ensure to include cutlery in your child's lunchbox. We have been distributing utensils on a daily basis, but the ongoing demand is exceeding our capacity and will no longer be providing cutlery. Your help with this is greatly appreciated!

Cold weather

We ask parents to please make sure your child is dressed warmly for the cold weather.   We want recesses to be an enjoyable break for our students.   With enough warm gear, students will be able to stay outside for the whole recess.

Extra set of clothes

We ask parents to please pack an extra set of clothes (or two) in your child’s backpack.  Packing an extra set of clothes will minimize the interruptions for parents and teachers.
