Welcome to the Louis Riel School Division’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) 2023-27 action pages. For each strategic action, we are diligently taking steps to achieve our goals. Together, these goals strive to create the best possible educational environment for students, staff, and community. On these pages, you will find answers to two key questions: What have we done so far? And where do we plan to be by 2027?

What have we done so far?

Reframe the Grade 11 English Language Arts curriculum to focus on Indigenous literature and perspectives:

Started to plan for the Grade 11 English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum reframing.

Ensure the Grade 11 History curriculum thoroughly explores Indigenous histories and perspectives and is framed with Indigenous pedagogies at the centre:

Continued to reframe the Grade 11 History curriculum.
- Brought together a focus/working committee of history teachers from across the Division.
Completed two one-day workshops with all Grade 11 LRSD history teachers to reframe the curriculum.
- Focused on shifting practices that reflect harms of the past.

Where do we plan to be by 2027?

We intend to meet the goals set out in this strategic action. This means:

By 2025:
We will have ensured that the Grade 11 History curriculum thoroughly explores Indigenous histories and perspectives and is framed with Indigenous pedagogies at the centre. This will include incorporating voices, stories, and experiences that reflect the diversity and depth of Indigenous communities, both historically and in contemporary contexts.
By 2027:
We will have reframed the Grade 11 English Language Arts curriculum to focus on Indigenous literature and perspectives. This will involve elevating Indigenous authors and storytelling traditions while fostering critical thinking about the relationships between language, culture, and identity.
