Principal's Log - Stars Date October 28th, 2024

Good afternoon everyone.

I hope you had a lovely long weekend! Lots of sports excitement in the city as a gust of wind helped our Bombers clinch the number one spot and the Jets just keeping rolling with an 8-0 start. Fun time to be a Winnipeg sports fan!  Speaking of fans, please remember our Stars are competing in Volleyball.  Please come out and cheer them on!

The November Calendar is attached, so please remember report cards will be accessible on the Parent Portal on November 18th and Conferences take place on the 21st. Appointments can be booked online beginning November 7th. Please contact the school at 204.237.0202 if you have any questions.

Grade 8 Fundraiser

This year our Grade 8s will be running a few school-wide fundraisers to off-set the cost of their June Farewell activities.  We have more Grade 8 students, which means the costs will go up! Please see the attached FundScrip information if you are interested in participating in this optional event!  Thank you for your consideration.

Halloween Costumes

1730138020669.png

Things to consider…

· Is the costume appropriate for a learning environment? If you are unsure, consult your child’s teacher. Be mindful of how others will interpret the costume to avoid things that are frightening or offensive. Remember that culture is not a costume.

· Is the costume comfortable to wear in class? Can the costume transition to different activities? Will it cause your child to be too hot?

· Is the costume too complicated for school? Will the costume take too long to put together or undress later? Will it be a problem if your child needs to use the washroom? We would prefer there are no handheld parts that get in the way of learning or could be lost during the day.

Keeping with past practises there will be no masks, blood or weapons as a part of a costume. We appreciate your support in making the day enjoyable for everyone.

Happy Halloween!
