Principal's Log - Stars Date June 25th , 2024

Good morning!

Welcome to our final week of the year! Can you believe it? The older I get the faster it goes!  I just want to take a moment to thank you all for a wonderful year. It truly has been extremely positive, productive and enjoyable.  Nordale is a very special place, and I am incredibly thankful and grateful to have landed in this community.

We are already busy planning for next year and we know it will be another awesome one, where we continue the work we started on our Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

We will strive to infuse more student voice and choice into what we do, continue to focus on making Nordale a safe and inclusive place for all; along with many other initiatives and student opportunities!  Speaking of opportunities, we are excited to announce that our Grade 7/8 students will have additional Arts exposure next year. Our students will have classes in Guitar and Visual / Dramatic Arts. We are very excited to be able to offer these to our students.

This week, although the last one, is jam packed with activities and events. Please refer to the monthly calendar to stay on top of everything that is going on!

Report cards will be available on the portal after 3:30pm on Thursday, June 27th.  Please remember, our classrooms are finalized and there will be no changes made. We have spent much time creating balanced rooms where every student has guaranteed requested peers in the same room with them.

On behalf of all the Staff Stars in Star Nation, we want to collectively wish you all a safe, fun, wonderful and fantastic summer!! We hope you have a summer creating memories and enjoying time with the important people in your life!

Have a great week!

Cheers,

j.

 A Message From Mr. Hrabluk:

Hi Nordale Parents and Community.

As Mr. Bell announced a couple of weeks ago, Louis Riel School Division has divisionally reassigned me to Island Lakes Community School for next year. This means I will be leaving Nordale, which has been part of my home base of schools for over twenty years of my life. I have seen a lot of musical change within that time but always attempted to provide the community with the appropriate resources so students could become the best versions of themselves. I just wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude toward the parents, families, friends, and community at large. This neighbourhood has always shown up when needed, could always be counted on to follow through, and has always been steadfast in their organization. For me, Nordale has forever maintained the mentality of the underdog, the grassroots challenger, the ‘wow we didn’t see that coming from that small school.’ Over the years, I have attempted to utilize this mentality and turn it into creative strength to showcase the amazing talents that are present in our student body. When I delivered my goodbye message to students, I talked about the Nordale spirit and how there is something special about the school and surrounding community that is only present in this environment. Louis Riel preaches the sense of Belonging within its Multi-Year Strategic Plan and I have always felt that spirit of Belonging at Nordale. In closing, I thank you for allowing me into your lives, your children’s lives, and your community. You are all very special people that make up a unique community and moving forward, I will take that uniqueness and place that knowledge on whatever ‘star’ I should land.
