Psychology Month in Canada 2025
February is recognized as Psychology Month in Canada, organized by the Canadian Psychological Association, to celebrate the contributions of psychologists and raise awareness of their vital role in fostering mental well-being. This month-long initiative highlights the diverse landscape of psychology, including clinical and school psychologists, counsellors, researchers, and educators. It aims to reduce stigma, promote mental health awareness, and encourage open conversations about mental well-being.
In the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD), we are fortunate to have an expert team of School Psychologists who provide specialized services, support ongoing learning, and contribute to our shared efforts to ensure success for all learners.
Throughout the month, various events, such as workshops and webinars, offer opportunities for learning and engagement. These activities connect people with the world of psychology and spotlight Canadian psychologists and their significant contributions, including personal stories of overcoming mental health challenges that inspire hope and foster empathy. Psychology Month encourages self-care, mindfulness, and stress management while emphasizing the importance of collective efforts for mental well-being. This year's theme, "Women in Science," acknowledges the important contributions of women in the field, emphasizing their role in shaping psychology and advancing research.
As we recognize the importance of psychology in our daily lives, we thank psychologists (especially our LRSD Psychology team) for their ongoing work supporting students, families, and communities. Don't forget to show appreciation for your School Psychologist this February and follow #PsychologyMonth on Bluesky.
