Strumming up Musical Engagement in Guitar

There is a lot going on in Guitar classes so far this year. All students have the opportunity to pursue their passion by learning new songs every week. Grade 7 & 8 students have been recording with Garage Band, to get ready for the amazing online YouTube concert.

The Grade 6 students are part of the introductory guitar course that provides them with basic knowledge. Right now, they are able to strum some basic chords, and they created a Music Hall of Fame exhibit which features their favorite artists.

Learning to play the guitar can be a rewarding, lifelong endeavor. The goal of the Louis Riel School Division Guitar Program is to provide students with a rich and comprehensive

musical experience. Specific content focus includes fingerstyle and pick technique, music theory, history, improvisation, reading, listening and composition. Students will develop their individual and group musical skills through solo and ensemble study. In addition to helping foster a lifelong appreciation for music, many students continue with guitar classes through the high school years.
