Cross Country at EGM

Students from grades 4 to 8 have the opportunity to participate in three cross-country meets at St. Vital Park these past weeks with the grade 4-6 students running 1400 meters and the grade 7 and 8 students running 1800 meters. The turnout is always amazing and watching gaggles of children gathered at the start line, smiling and laughing and then happily running together and trying their best is just lovely. This year, École George McDowell had approximately 50 students participate. The students had the opportunity to practice the required distance over some lunch time practices. They proudly wore their ÉGM pinneys and jerseys at St. Vital Park on race day and were excellent representatives of our school, participating with cheer and tenacity. Some students ran the race for the first time ever and others were seasoned pros working to simply do better than the last time. It was a fantastic season which ended with EGM bringing home the banner. The staff of ÉGM is so proud of all our participants.
