Public Board Meeting Highlights - Dec 3, 2024

Chair of the Board Chris Sigurdson called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. 

The Board engaged in dialogue regarding the article written by Trustee Walker, published in the Winnipeg Free Press Community Review entitled, “The school drop-off.” 

Secretary-Rudnicki shared an update regarding the Dec. 4, launch of the ThoughtExchange: Share Your Thoughts on the 2025-2026 Budget to Leadership. The ThoughtExchange will be launched to the public Dec. 9. 

Superintendent Michalik and members of the SLT provided updates on capital projects. 

Superintendent Michalik and Corey Kapilik, Director of School and Classroom Support, shared their takeaways from the National Gathering for Indigenous Education held Nov. 20 to Nov. 22, 2024. 

Assistant Superintendent Jean-Paul provided an update on behalf of the Workplace Safety and Health Committee. 

Superintendent Michalik provided context regarding the Notice of Motion for the École Howden Reconfiguration that will be brought forward at the Dec. 17 Regular Board Meeting.  

Assistant Superintendent Anderson provided context to the proposed Board motion: THAT Policy KFB - Community Use of Divisional Buildings and Facilities and supporting Administrative Protocol - Guidelines for Use of Divisional Buildings and Facilities be amended. 

Policy DN-4 - Disposition of Property: Vehicles, reviewed by the Policy Review Committee, received third reading and was adopted. 

The Board passed a motion to amend the Procedural By-laws of Louis Riel School Division Board of Trustees as received. 

Superintendent Michalik provided context to the proposed Board motion: Revision to Motion 21-037 – Change to Building Assignment of Windsor Park Collegiate and Collège Béliveau. 

The Chair adjourned the meeting at 7:48 p.m.
