Problem-Solvers Shine at 28th Tigers' Den Competition

The 28th annual Tigers' Den, hosted by the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD), concluded with students identifying problems to solve and inventing products or services to address the problems. The top three students in this year’s event were from the Louis Riel Arts and Technology Centre Applied Business Management Program.   

Students were tasked with creating two-minute videos presenting a prevalent community problem and their proposed solution. Previous winners have tackled issues such as potholes, allergies in restaurants, and youth mental health. 

This year's top three contestants exemplified outstanding ingenuity and practical problem-solving: 

Third Place: Shaan Patel with UniConnect 

UniConnect is an app designed to help international students navigate their new lives in Canada. It offers resources for employment, cultural food services, orientation services, academic support, and community-building. Shaan Patel

Second Place: Ashley Kay Cabalitcan with I Say Café 

I Say Café offers a 24-hour safe space where “students meet productivity” and are able to use various academic and digital tools to do their best work.  Ashley Kay Cabalitcan

First Place: Joelle Lalonde with Ecodevour 

Ecodevour is an eco-friendly innovation that uses unique mushrooms to decompose garbage, reducing refuse buildup at large landfills and in the home.  Joelle Lalonde
