The LRSD Board of Trustees accepted the notice of retirement for Ingrid Pedersen on Jan. 21, 2025.

Ingrid completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Manitoba in 1988, followed by her Bachelor of Education with a Biology major and Drama minor in 1991. She then went on to pursue a Communications Certificate at The University of Winnipeg in 1998 and completed her Master of Education at the University of Manitoba in 2011.

Ingrid started her teaching career in term position at Dakota Collegiate in the St. Vital School Division in 1991. She accepted a permanent contract with the school in 1993. Ingrid was a participant in the New South Wales Teacher Exchange Program from 1998-99 at Forbes High School where she learned many new techniques. She returned to Dakota Collegiate and was a dedicated teacher for 10 more years.

From 2009-2013, Ingrid stepped into the divisional role of Performing Arts Coordinator (Dance and Drama). In 2013, Ingrid accepted the position of Arts Education Coordinator. These roles allowed Ingrid to provide support and resources to arts teachers and expand Louis Riel School Division’s (LRSD) arts offerings.

In 2022, Ingrid transitioned into the role of Vice-Principal at J.H. Bruns Collegiate, where she has had a very positive impact on the community, especially in her work with supporting individualized programming in the school.

Ingrid consistently models a positive and enthusiastic approach to learning, with an infectious energy that inspires those around her. Her greatest strength lies in her exceptional interpersonal skills, which enable her to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families. She fosters a sense of community and trust, creating an environment where teachers feel empowered in their own journey and equipped to support their students.

To quote Ingrid, “All students have the right to have all aspects of their learning supported. It is our job as teachers and administrators to make sure that happens.”

We thank Ingrid for her thirty-four years of service to the Louis Riel School Division and recognize her leadership to countless students, families, and staff. We wish her health and happiness as she enters retirement.
