The LRSD Board of Trustees accepted the notice of retirement for Alana White on Jan. 22, 2025.

A lifelong learner, Alana completed her Bachelor of Physical Education, at the University of Manitoba in 1991. Alana made the decision to return to university for her Bachelor of Education in 1994 and completed her schooling in 1996. She then received her Master of Education Administration in 2016.

Alana began her career in the St. Vital School Division in 1992, first as a substitute Instructional Assistant before starting a term position at Victor H.L. Wyatt School. In 1996, she transitioned into a Physical Education teaching position at George McDowell School. She moved on to St. George School from 2001-2010 as a classroom teacher before transferring to Island Lakes Community School in 2010. Wanting a new challenge, Alana joined the Lavallee School staff as a Student Services Teacher in 2016.

Alana joined the Marion School community as Vice-Principal in 2018, where her career in the Louis Riel School Division will end as Principal.

Alana elicited positive experiences for the students and staff she supported. She encouraged students to reach their goals. Students, colleagues, and parents have been enriched by her thirty-one years of service as a teacher and administrator.

Alana said it best, “Education is for all, it is what opens doors to the future. It is up to all educators, as individuals and as teams, to ensure that every learner has the opportunity to grow and thrive.”

We wish Alana all the best as she embarks on new adventures in retirement.
