The Louis Riel School Division is deeply saddened by the passing of the Honourable Nello Altomare. His visionary leadership inspired countless individuals within the education community, and his dedication to public education will leave a lasting impact.

Minister Altomare was a dedicated advocate for public education in Manitoba, giving his heart and soul to his work as minister of education. His unwavering commitment to creating a brighter future through investing in public education left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The highly impactful school food program, developed and implemented under Minister Altomare's leadership, is now primed to be enacted into law. The legislation, to be named Nello’s Law, will undoubtedly serve as a testament to his legacy as a courageous and transformative leader in education.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those mourning his loss. May his memory continue to inspire us and live on through the positive changes we work to achieve in the Louis Riel School Division.
