UPDATE: Addressing Enrolment Pressures at École Sage Creek School: Kindergarten

École Sage Creek School (ÉSCS) opened its doors at 315 Sage Creek Blvd. in September 2017. It originally served Kindergarten to Grade 8 learners in the English and French Immersion programs. Due to enrolment pressures, English program students in Grades 5 to 8 and French Immersion students in Grades 7 and 8 have been attending schools outside the community for some time. Since January 2024, new students registering for Grades 3 or 4 of the English program have been redirected to Shamrock School. 

Last month, the Division communicated plans to offer Full-Day Kindergarten (FDK) at ÉSCS. The chosen model will see FDK offered at ÉSCS for the 2024-2025 school year to two English program classes and two French Immersion program classes, each with an enrolment cap of 24 students. Once the cap of 48 English program and 48 French Immersion program registrations is met, new registrations will be redirected to another school with transportation provided. Today, the Division is communicating further details. 

French Immersion Program - Full Enrolment

The French Immersion Kindergarten program at ÉSCS has reached the maximum enrolment number of 48 registrations. Consequently, effective May 22, 2024, and for the balance of the 2024-2025 school year, new registrations for Kindergarten in the French Immersion program will be redirected to École Guyot, as per Board motion. Busing will be provided at no cost to families. Students will continue at École Guyot until the opening of École Sage Creek/Bonavista (projected for Fall 2025). Class sizes at École Guyot will be closely monitored, and staff added if required. 

English Program - Full Enrolment

Enrolment in the English Kindergarten program at ÉSCS has reached the maximum enrolment of 48 students for 2024-2025. All new registrations for the English program will be redirected to Shamrock School, as per Board motion. Busing will be provided at no cost to families. Students will continue at Shamrock School until a second elementary school opens in Sage Creek (projected for Fall 2025), at which point, they will attend the English program at 315 Sage Creek Blvd. Class sizes at Shamrock School will be closely monitored, and staff added if required.
