Parent Training Night: iPad as a Communication Device
On February 8 families in the Louis Riel School Division attended a training session to support their students who use an iPad with the voice output app Proloquo2Go to communicate.
“I enjoyed seeing and hearing Lindsey advocate for our children," said one parent.
The session provided parents, family members and respite workers the opportunity to better understand how non-speaking or minimally-speaking students can use Proloquo2Go to communicate at home and in the community.
“I appreciated the videos that explained how to model language during play (like Mr. Potato Head),” said another parent.
A follow-up training session will be offered on the evening of May 8, 2023.
“We felt a sense of community – knowing that there are other families going through it too," said another parent.
