Kids and Classrooms in South St. Vital
In the area of South St. Vital, the Louis Riel School Division has six schools with capacity for growth and two schools well over capacity serving the same geographic area. Student enrolment is projected to continue to increase at both schools that are already over capacity: École Julie-Riel and École St. Germain.
We continue to review current and historic enrolments, enrolment projections, school capacities, and planning scenarios to address this challenge.
After consultation with government officials, we have invited staff and parents of the eight schools to a series of community consultations from September 2013 to December 2013.
At this time we do not have an answer. We do have a range of potential solutions and we are open to new answers that may arise through the consultations.
These meetings will allow the community to consider with us, optimal learning environments for all of our students in South St. Vital with the objective of developing a sustainable solutions to address the enrolment challenges. Please see dates and times below, or see http://www.lrsd.net/N1/1200.asp for more information, including an FAQ addressing questions and concerns that have come up during our first few Community Forums.
